Curious about cleansing?
Is it safe?
Yes, obviously! Kitchari cleanses are super safe. This is NOT for pregnant women or children—but that’s it! In fact, this cleanse is extremely powerful if you are trying to conceive. Pregnant women can participate in enjoying kitchari, but always honor your cravings while pregnant, and focus on nourishing yourself up!!
Benefits of cleansing include balancing hormones, regulating digestion, reboot your libido and reproductive health, improve gut health, reduce body odor, clearing acne or skin conditions, balancing blood sugar, and more! You’ll be shocked at how in control of your diet, blood sugar, cravings, and overall health become after this cleanse. Feel free to text/email/dm/schedule a call if you are curious if cleansing is right for you.
Is it healthy?
Do you have to ask?! Of course it is! It’s healthy to kitchari cleanse 1-2 times per year, especially Spring & Fall. Your digestion craves a reset, and your body’s toxic overload needs some relief!
A kitchari cleanse consists of a monodiet, plus other self-care protocols, spice blends, and internal oleation. Kitchari is a dish of split mung beans (like lentils, but better), rice or quinoa, spices, veggies like carrots/zucchini/spinach, and topped with ghee or evoo, sea salt, lime, and/or cilantro. So delicious!
The morning routine consists of snehana internal oleation (2-4-6-8 tsp of warm ghee, increasing each day), some warm ginger tea and/or aloe juice, maybe an abhyanga (self-massage), light movement, and later some spiced rice.
Is it hard?
It’s not easy to cleanse, not gunna lie. It takes dedication, prep, and optimism. If it were easy, everyone would do it! You’re going to have to say ‘No’ to a lot of cravings—no sugar, no alcohol, no weed, no coffee, no heavy workouts (light exercise, yes!), no snacking, no meat, and no stress. Cut out toxic people and environmental toxins in your life. Saying ‘No’ to these inflammatory responses will empower you and set you free!
Every meal is some variation of kitchari. Your body will then be able to focus on cleansing and healing when it doesn’t have to “guess” about how or what to digest. Breakfast is your simple spiced grain or a green juice in the morning. Lunch and dinner are kitchari. It’s as simple as that!
